Our Story

Cooked & Ate™ was born out of homesickness. I'm Yolanda, a South African foodie living in Watford, UK.

What started out as me making homemade vetkoek for my family soon evolved into me cooking at pop-up events and for friends and other South Africans craving a taste of home.

Then one day, someone said, 'I wish I could make this myself.' That sparked an idea, and so our Vetkoek Mixes and Recipe Mixes were born.

No matter what you call them, vetkoek, magwinya, puff puff or dumplings – one thing never changes: the joy of that unforgettable smell when the dough hits the hot oil.

It's about more than just food. It's about family. It's about memories. It's about laughter around the table and sharing that joy with others.
